The home support worker pilot and home child care provider pilot are Canadian immigration programs that allow individuals who have experience working as home support workers or home child care providers to apply for permanent residency in Canada. These pilots are designed to address labor shortages in these fields and provide a pathway for individuals to immigrate to Canada and work in these in-demand occupations.

The home support worker pilot is for individuals who have experience working as a home support worker and can provide care for seniors, people with disabilities, or people who are sick. The home child care provider pilot is for individuals who have experience working as a home child care provider and can provide child care in a private home setting. Both pilots are temporary and have specific eligibility criteria and requirements that must be met in order to apply.

Note: We highly recommend you to consult with us for more information on how to apply for these pilots as both of them are yearly capped which limits the number of applications per year.

What Are The Main Requirements For HCCP & HSWP?

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot (HCCP) and Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP) are two pilot programs run by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allow caregivers to come to Canada as permanent residents. Both programs have specific requirements and are best suited for certain types of candidates.

The main requirements for the HCCP are:

1. Good to have 12 months of full-time work experience as a home child care provider
within the past 3 years.
2. A valid job offer from a Canadian employer, who has been pre-approved by the
government, to work as a home child care provider (not required for the Pilot Program)
3. Meet the language proficiency requirements in English or French (CLB 5 or above)
4. Meet the education requirement of one year post secondary education.
5. Ability to demonstrate to perform the duties as a Home Child Care Provider.

The main requirements for the HSWP are:

3. Meet the language proficiency requirements in English or French (CLB 5 or above)
4. Meet the education requirement of one year post secondary education.

Who Are The Best Fit For These Two Pilots?

The best fit for these programs are caregivers with experience in child care or home support, and who meet the language proficiency, education and job offer requirements.

How To Find The Clients?

The clients that the caregivers should find to be eligible to prove the genuine relationship of employer and employee are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who are in need of a home child care provider or home support worker and are willing to provide a valid job offer. They should be able to demonstrate that they have a genuine need for the care provided by the foreign caregiver and that they are financially capable of providing the required compensation. They should also pass the pre-approval process of the government and be able to demonstrate that they have attempted to hire a Canadian or Permanent resident for the role, but were unable to find one (Not required for Pilot Program as it is LMIA exempted)
